Medical Forum on the CanalAVIST, 11 and 19 september 2008

According to ICT-Forum event submitted at CanalAVIS on September 2008 11th and 19th , a medical forum will be organized and NACESTI Attends the lectures through the closest designated venue: Room 201, 24 Ly Thuong Kiet, Hanoi.

CanalAVIST is a part of the ASEAN Virtual Institute of Science and Technology (AVIST) and the ASEAN Science and Technology Research and Education Network Alliance (ASTRENA) under ASEAN Committee for Science and Technology to provide channels for seamless education, teaching, training, conferencing, lectures, talkings of ASEAN countries for ASEAN researchers and students

The ASEAN Virtual Institute of Science and Technology (AVIST)  set up by ministerial approval in 2005, following development by ASEAN Committee on Science and Technology (COST) ), is as part of the strategy for continuing professional education, hosted in Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok Thailand. Since then, AVIST has conducted various online e-learning courses for a large number of participants throughout ASEAN. The ASEAN Science and Technology Research and Education Network Alliance (ASTRENA) was mooted in 1998 and implemented in 2006. Since then, two ASTRENA meetings have been carried out, ASTRENA-1 in Brunei, March 2006 and ASTRENA-2 in Manila, January 2007. Other ASTRENA associated meetings will be conducted.

CanalAVIST will utilize the Trans Eurasia Information Network (TEIN2) to deliver lectures and streaming VDO to members of TEIN2, ASEAN, Europe and Australia with the use of ranging from H.263 to DVTS supported by an E-learning platform VCLASS (see http://www.vclass.net) by the Internet Education and Research Lab, Asian Institute of Technology.

CanalAVIST Medical Forum aims to provide updated knowledge and information to the ASEAN and Asia-Pacific audience in the field of medicine, specifically in endoscopic diagnosis and treatment .  The forum willl introduce medical practitioners, surgeons and medical students in the region to a new avenue for clinical exchanges and discussions, enable collaborations and update the audience with the rapid development of the field of endoscopy.

The two-day event will stream talks from various sites on TEIN2. Participating institutions in the forum include:

  • Paul Brosse Hospital, Villejuif, France
  • Iwate Medical University, Morioka, Japan
  • Kyoto 2nd Red Cross Hospital, Japan
  • Kyushu University Hospital, Fukuoka, Japan
  • Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, Bundang, Korea
  • Chiangmai University, Thailand
  • Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand
  • Mahidol University Siriraj, Thailand
  • Prince Songkla University, Thailand

On the first day, lectures willl revolve around current situation of laparoscopic hepatectomy in Japan, Korea, and France.Hot topics in GI endoscopy shall be tackled on the second day. Short discussions shall follow each topic lecture.

Friday 20th Mar 2009. Fourth National VinaREN Forum Hanoi, Vietnam
Vietnam will celebrate their participation in TEIN3 as part of the Fourth National VinREN Forum to be held on 20 March 2009 in Hanoi. It will see the attendance of representatives of the EC Delegation, ministry officials and users.
HIGH-SPEED PAN-ASIAN TEIN3 RESEARCH NETWORK LAUNCHED IN VIETNAM. US$25 million investment to reduce the digital divide across Asia-Pacific
The 20th March 2009, Hanoi-Vietnam – Researchers and citizens across Asia-Pacific, including Vietnam, will benefit from the new TEIN3 high-speed research and education data-communications network. The three year, US$25 million investment by the European Union and the Asian project partners will support critical collaborations between research centres, educators and students across the region and the globe in fields of high societal benefit, such as telemedicine, e-learning, disaster warning and crop research. Network capacity is also being provided by some project partners, making this the largest international research network in Asia.
Cooperation and Development of VinaREN
On June 20 2008, National Center for Scientific & Technological Information and University of Thai Nguyen has signed an agreement of cooperation to set up Network Operation Center for Northern mountainous area at Thai Nguyen University.
The third National VinaREN Forum
On 27-28 March 2008, the third National VinaREN Forum was held in Hanoi, Hue and Ho Chi Minh City.

Cooporation for VinaREN construction and development
On June 20 2008, National Center for Scientific & Technological Information and University of Thai Nguyen has signed an agreement of cooperation to set up Network Operation Center for Northern mountainous area at Thai Nguyen University.
The second National VinaREN Forum in Hanoi, Hue and Ho Chi Minh City
To implement the Government policies on establishing a network for research and education of Vietnam, Ministry of Science and Technology in cooperation with the related ministries has already conducted a network project and established VinaREN with the 15 members – the leading research and education institutions in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
